Aircraft disinsection controls insect pests that can travel in aircraft. Some destinations require it to protect public health, agriculture or the environment.
Disinsection targets insects. Disinfection targets microorganisms. Routine cabin cleaning does not replace either specialized treatment.
The right plan depends on the route, aircraft areas, accepted method and the rules where treatment takes place. WHO provides technical guidance; national authorities determine their requirements.

The treatment must match the requirement.
A product’s active ingredient alone does not establish its permitted use—or the certificate it supports.
We confirm the service scope before work proceeds. This overview is for planning; trained personnel must use the complete current label and applicable procedures.
Pre-embarkation aerosol
Treatment of an unoccupied aircraft before passengers board. It is different from a long-term residual surface treatment.
Cargo-hold treatment
Compartment-specific treatment. A product authorized for a cargo hold is not automatically authorized for the passenger cabin.
Residual treatment
A separate surface-treatment method with its own documentation and validity conditions. A pre-embarkation aerosol record must not be presented as proof of this method.

Know the rules on both sides of the flight.
Requirements change. Confirm the route, product and paperwork with the relevant authority before departure.
UNITED STATES
Check the exact label.
EPA’s May 2025 registration for Callington Pre-Spray, No. 92953-1, covers specified unoccupied, pre-embarkation use and restricts application to properly trained airline personnel.
EPA’s general webpage conflicts with that product record. Cabin work requires current product-status, state and applicator checks, including clarification of third-party eligibility. We confirm the lawful service scope before booking.
ITALY
Confirm the arrival documentation.
Italy’s health circulars distinguish residual certification from single-sector aerosol documentation. Recent routing and the arrival authority’s instructions matter.
The August 2024 clarification allows a pre-embarkation alternative when residual treatment is not possible, with documentation conditions. Confirm current acceptance with the destination USMAF-SASN office and handling agent.
AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
Plan the accepted method.
The joint disinsection schedule specifies methods and documentation. Certain treatment programs require an approved arrangement or compliance agreement.
For these and other destinations, ask which method, form and operator/provider authorization apply to the actual flight. One country’s acceptance does not establish another’s.

Does LiveTakeoff provide aircraft disinsection?
Yes. LiveTakeoff offers disinsection through a network of trusted providers who follow our guidance and applicable requirements. We coordinate the request and documentation. The location, treatment method and qualified-provider availability are confirmed before the job is booked.
Who issues the certificate?
Live Takeoff LLC issues the certificate and sends it directly to the customer based on the provider’s documented treatment. Contact our operations team to verify a certificate that identifies Live Takeoff LLC as its issuer.
Does WHO guidance mean a service is approved everywhere?
No. WHO’s methods inform treatment procedures. Product authorization, applicator requirements and destination acceptance still need separate checks. A manufacturer listing also does not make LiveTakeoff a government-approved or WHO-certified provider.
How long is a disinsection certificate valid?
There is no single answer for every method and destination. A record for a single flight is different from residual-treatment certification. Confirm the method, validity conditions and accepted form with the arrival authority rather than assuming every certificate lasts eight weeks.
Can I use a pre-embarkation certificate as a residual certificate?
No. The document must accurately identify the treatment performed. Different methods can require different records, declarations or certificates. We help clarify the documentation before arranging work.
How can an authority verify a certificate quickly?

What should I send to request service?
Send the aircraft type and registration, airport/FBO, arrival and departure times, destination, relevant routing and any instructions from the destination authority. Include an existing certificate if you need its status reviewed. We will confirm the scope and next steps.
